When I started writing Anomaly in 2014 I had an idea of where I wanted The Soul Prophecies series to go. I wanted to write about Arhl’s world and I had a vision for how the series would end. The series was always going to be a trilogy but half way through Anomaly I realised that I needed to explain Sophia’s story too. I wrote Hidden Variables as a prequel to Anomaly for that purpose.
Four years later and I have finished writing the series; I know where the story travels and its ultimate destination. Outlet Publishing offered me the release of a deluxe edition of Hidden Variables/Anomaly to include my science notes (Sophia’s journal) and suggested editorial changes to tie in with the rest of the series.
This was the perfect opportunity for me to make some changes to the original books and tidy up any loose ends. Thus Another Path was born.
The basic stories behind the original Anomaly and Hidden Variables remain unchanged, though some sections and ideas have been modified. For those of you who have already read Anomaly and Hidden Variables I hope you will also enjoy reading Another Path. We plan to release the next books in the series all within a year of this one. The original Anomaly and Hidden Variables books will be discontinued after the current press run ends, so I guess that will make them collectable in the future.
Thank you all for your patience and for your continued support as well as all the kind reviews. I’m always overwhelmed, and motivated, by the positive feedback for my books and I’m looking forward to sharing my new work with you.
If the ideas in Anomaly were true then a research team would need to take the idea of ‘Nowtime’ and potentially other ideas, and break them down into all the necessary, smaller questions that would initially be required. I’m not sure what all those questions would be, but I imagine they would focus on how to detect or measure the effects of ‘Nowtime’ and what I call the ‘Creative Field’.
The main problem I can see is the confusion over what I call ‘Positive’ and ‘Negative’, these terms in my novel ‘Anomaly’ mean completely different things to the terms already used by the scientific community. Scientifically positive energy is all matter and light, including antimatter, whereas negative energy is gravity and bonding forces. The terms in my novel ‘Anomaly’ would need a redefinition or better still, taken out of the equation completely at this stage, they are not necessary to make a prediction for ‘Nowtime’ or the ‘Creative Field’.
Science suggests that the Casimir Effect of virtual particles helps the universe expand. The expansion of the universe can be explained by many scientists as the existence of virtual particles popping in and out of existence, annihilating each other, so the Casimir Effect on a supermassive scale. There could be proof in this, nobody knows why at the moment and quantum mechanics makes allowances for this to happen without knowing why as part of the Uncertainty Principle.
It may be possible for a research team to look into how they could possibly collide high energy particles the size of a neutrino. They may deduce that there needs to be a force carrying particle at an extremely small level. I don’t know if this is likely to be a weak interaction of a weak energy interaction. This team would have to look at current technology and come up with ways to detect the energy in these particles, but this is likely to be difficult since it would probably involve colliding neutrinos. However, if it could be worked out mathematically what is required to detect these interactions, then there could well be grounds for more research.
As pointed out to me in a previous blog, there probably won’t need to be a new model of maths but there would need to be a mathematical definition of ‘Nowtime’ and the ‘Creative Field’.
If you have just stumbled across this blog then the link to Part 1 is below.
I will reiterate, my novels and the stories within are fiction but some of the science based concepts have come from a mixture of my imagination and actual factual science.
If my ideas from Anomaly were true, then a small equation containing the Planck’s Constant or the Cosmological Constant would need expanding. There would need to be new symbols for ‘Nowtime’ and the ‘Creative Field’. The Cosmological Constant may also need to be redefined.
‘Nowtime’ is getting bigger with entropy but it would have a constant value because it is always now. So the information in the system expands as such and human time absorbs that (or space time), but ‘Nowtime’ also has direct energy. If you think of entropy, all information in the universe increases over time as we know it, so time absorbs that energy and that adheres to Newtonian Laws of Thermodynamics. When there is more information in the system the mouth of the vortex expands (I’ll borrow another one of my old diagrams). It expands with the forward nature of human time, so time itself expands ‘Nowtime’. With ‘Nowtime’ that time is always now, it has no future it is always the cross section of this moment, so it is 2-dimensional in that sense. This means that ‘Nowtime’ expands outwards, so it’s energy isn’t absorbed over time it absorbs that energy directly, this would be the whole principle of what dark energy actually is.
As I’ve mentioned before, there needs to be a new maths model because ‘Nowtime’ and the way it affects the universe and everything else is not properly hypothesised yet, and may never be. Faraday’s equations are probably the nearest at this moment in time, and between Max Planck and Schrödinger, ‘Nowtime’ should be able to be interpreted from within as well.
To start with, there would be two equations and they would probably include the Cosmological Constant, Planck’s Constant and new symbols for ‘Nowtime and the ‘Creative Field’. These two equations would be linked.
I’ve had many people ask me about some of my ideas pertaining to possible future science theories, and I’ve covered some of my thoughts in an earlier blog. However I’ve been writing and working on my second and third books and I felt like now would be a good time for me to throw out some more suggestions. Before I go further, I want to say this straight away, my novels and the stories within are fiction but some of the science based concepts have come from a mixture of my imagination and actual factual science. I hold a science degree but not a physics degree and my maths I regret to say I left behind at the end of my GCSE’s.
If you haven’t read my book or want some extra information then I recommend that you read these two blogs first before continuing.
In my blog ‘My Thoughts & Ideas Behind Anomaly’ I mention that physicists would probably have to discover a new layer of particle physics. This new layer would lend to and explain the ‘Creative Field’. (I’ll borrow one of my previous diagrams to explain)
In order to discover this new layer of particle physics, current experiments would require a lot more energy. Potential discoveries with the Large Hadron Collider at CERN using high energy collisions might bring about the capabilities to make the accelerators even faster, and enable us to explore more high energy collisions. In order for this to happen the ‘Nowtime’ idea that there would be a new dimension of time will need to be explored and turned into an actual hypothesis. However, any change in the science world is likely to be gradual and the application of any discoveries will likely be a race between different groups of scientists.
Quantum mechanics and relativity are not compatible, one is based on the probability of an event happening, anywhere and at any time. The other is based on relativity, so there is always a fixed point to make an observation from. However, since we are always technically in motion, the binary nature of the quantum field can’t always be observed because no point in space is actually fixed. Both quantum mechanics and relativity work, but the ‘thing’ that binds them could potentially be ‘Nowtime’ and that creates a field. This would mean that ‘Nowtime’ and the ‘Creative Field’ links the two, but it has not yet been hypothesised in the right way yet. This is because there is no way of mathematically linking the two because the maths as we know it breaks down. In order for this to work a really clever person would need to make a new maths model. It would still have the basics of calculus but each symbol would have it’s own formula as such.
If all of this were true and discovered in the next two hundred years there is the potential for time travel into the future, tapping into ‘dark energy’ for our energy needs, real space travel outside of the solar system and eventually the galaxy, and sending the mind of an artificial intelligence into space. The problem is, there will be many ethical issues too.
Sending the mind of a computer into space would start on a small scale first. Theoretically you would be able to show a computer a coloured card in thirty seconds and the computer would move forwards, ‘stop time’, see themselves and the card, and then come back and communicate the colour of the card before being properly shown. All it would need initially is the ability to do this for a few seconds for its potential to be realised. It would take vast amounts of energy to do this, but there is a lot of energy that can be gained from the universe itself.
Of course this is all wishful thinking and theoretical under today’s technology, but it could be possible on the quantum scale. If you can make a particle predict another particle it will use less energy. A quantum computer might be able to predict the spin of another particle or predict some superposition, but theoretically leading up to that with the prediction of a colour. If this can be done on the small scale using the sorts of energies that we can do, then the basis of the idea/theory should hold enough ground for further exploration. If it is possible to get enough energy to look into a few nanoseconds into the future then it’s a starting point to expand further. We can find colossal short bursts of energy, and this might be enough.
I have a confession to make; I’ve committed every book lover’s worst sins with this book. Eragon by Christopher Paolini is my most loved and most read book to date, and it has maintained its number one spot in my book-loving heart for almost a decade.

My Thoughts: Heads up for new readers considering this series, there are going to be 12 books and each one so far ends on a cliffhanger. That being said, I am loving this series right now, the more I read the more I want to know.
The Unfinished Song Series is set in a very primitive almost neolithic time. There is a lot of violence and women especially, are sometimes treated badly. There are tribal clans with bizarre rules and complicated politics. The fae/fairies/fairy lords etc come in all sorts of sizes and forms and they are mischevious, beautiful and powerful. There is a lot of terminology, including character names, clan names, levels of fae, magic, etc. Tara Maya has thought out every detail extensively and as a result has created a believable fantasy world like no other.
My Thoughts: I was up til 4am reading this book!
10/10 Stars for the opening paragraph! I loved the main character, Drake Sinclair’s, humour and attitude, the first two sentences had me completely hooked. I have to quote them…. ‘My day really began the moment the men shot at me. To set the record straight, it wasn’t my usual idea of fun.’ (From Chapter One: In Which I Screw Up)
I Am Phantom is a fast-paced, well-written, action-packed sci-fi and fantasy, with a good dose of humour. Written in the first person, the reader joins Drake at the beginning of this story in his relatively calm and peaceful family life at home just before he finishes school, and where his only worries are asking girls to prom, the school bullies, oh, and the freaky super powers he obtained during puberty. Drake Sinclair knows he isn’t normal, jumping ridiculously high, super speed, strength and healing abilities are not normal, however he has done a good job at dealing with and hiding his abnormalities so far…. That is before a mysterious figure shows up and turns the school prom into a disaster.
Drake Sinclair then receives a strange admission letter from a college out of state, one with a letter that promises to give him answers about his powers. Desperate for answers Drake accepts, but little does he know, the answers are more complicated and more disturbing than he had ever imagined. Drake is forced to choose how he will use his powers, and whether or not he will use them for good or bad.
